1. Limit sugar, alcohol, and caffeine intake
Some of the components in these substances have been found to worsen period symptoms and cramps. Sugar, for example, can worsen your mood and cause bloating. If you tend to have bad mood swings during your period, watching your sugar intake can help regulate it. Too much alcohol will dehydrate you, which can worsen headaches and cause bloating. Finally having too much caffeine can cause vasoconstriction (the narrowing of blood vessels), which can worsen cramps during your period.
2. Eat dark chocolate
Not only does dark chocolate satisfy your cravings (dopamine), but it is also nutrient-dense, and a source of magnesium which relaxes the muscles, and helps ease period pain. According to Healthline, studies suggest that eating between 40-120 grams daily during your period may help reduce pain. However, it must be 70% cacao, so, unfortunately, any other chocolate isn’t going to cut it :(
3. Track your cycle
Tracking your cycle will help you be more prepared for your next period and help you realize why your body may be feeling a certain way. It also gives insight into any irregularities that can be fixed if necessary.
4. Carry the right supplies
