Who doesn’t love a good skincare nighttime routine before going to bed? After a long day of work, we need time to take care of ourselves and relax. What else is more relaxing than skincare?
A perfect nighttime routine will include hydration-boosting products that will give your skin a youthful, well-rested glow. Because the night is the best time to layer up on moisturizers.
1st step: Makeup remover
Please don’t sin by sleeping with your makeup on. This harms your skin and accelerates aging. We recommend micellar water or a balm remover.
2nd step: Cleanser
The first step removed buildup on the surface, now it’s time for a face wash. No matter your skin type, you need a cleanser that’s gentle on your skin. One that doesn’t cause irritation or that tight skin feeling. This step is key to eliminating all the toxins and free radicals that your skin collects from the environment. This is a must in your nighttime routine, can't go to bed with dirty skin!
3rd step: Toner
Toner helps calibrate the skin, it balances pH levels and moisture levels, especially for those who are prone to be on the oilier side. If your pH isn't balanced, your products will not penetrate properly. Look for an alcohol-free toner that's gentle enough for sensitive skin and packed with antioxidants, for example, a toner with Vitamin E.
4th step: Treatment
Next, apply your preferred treatment. This is the step where you customize the routine tailored to your skin concerns. Here you will use a serum, a dermatologist-prescribed product, an acne treatment or any other specific treatment. For instance, a firming serum or anti-aging treatment. This step is not going to be the same every single night. You can do the famous skin cycling to prevent irritation and over-exfoliation (we talk a little more about it in this blog).
5th step: Moisturize
Lastly, deeply moisturize your skin with a skin barrier-repairing lotion or cream that will rejuvenate the health of your skin. It will also restore the disruption of the natural oils that lock in moisture that can be caused by your face wash. Therefore, you should include this step after every cleanse. Try different moisturizers until you find one that won’t clog your pores. Products with hyaluronic acid and strong humectants are a great option.
